Once again Santa is coming to the streets of Caerleon on Christmas Eve.
In time honoured tradition the Christmas Committee continues to work hard to ensure the event goes as seamlessly as possible come rain or shine. Even in treacherous conditions our intrepid Santa, backed up by willing elves and sleigh drivers managed to deliver to every wide eyed child. Santa’s chief helper commented “We have had some really difficult conditions to cope with. We have been out in sub-zero temperatures but it worth it all when you see the reaction on the children’s faces.
Any profits made from the evening go to deserving local causes. Previous donations have been made to Ieuan the Lion, a Newport based charity that provides free holidays to seriously ill and disabled children. Village Enterprise Wales Ltd, Caerleon’s own ‘not for profit’ social enterprise. Latch, a Welsh children’s cancer charity.
In previous years donations were again made to Ieuan the Lion and also NSPCC/Childline and Casey’s Cause.
Caerleon is one of the few villages to run an event such as this and it brings a truly community feel to the festive season.
